I am neither wearing glasses nor contacts right now, and I can't even make out small objects from across my room. Things are blurry between myself and everything else, just like the threshold between art and design. Then again, the blurriness might be because of the 75mg of Benadryl I downed 2 hrs ago in order to sleep. FAIL!

Is there an absolute difference between art & design? I cannot think of any.

Nearly all which is said about art can also be said about design. Both need skills and talent, both can motivate and inspire, and both sends a bundle of messages, provoking all kinds of feelings. The closest I can come up with that may separate design from art is function. At least in industrial and product design, there is intent for usage, demanding direct quantifiable actions. But what to make of graphic design, where works have no direct correlation to function?

On a different note, It is 4:30 A.M., and according to the insomnia forum I should define what is refraining me from sleep. To sleep is to free the mind, and to free the mind I have know. This is almost nearly impossible. *Sigh.
Toss, turn. I work in 2 hours and I lost count of sheep. I cannot differentiate between art and design. I can't sleep!
to me, art and design go hand in hand..and when there's no intent for functional usage...the function for some art is to stimulate the mind..get the creative juices flowing and to simply inspire those who want to be inspired.

that's where the struggle lies, mental stimulation and inspiration can't be quantified. but ya, it might really be impossible to differentiate.
